The challenge
Because of its size, the website kept running into technical problems with plugins.
Internationalization was also critical: managing multiple languages and layouts for different countries caused visual inconsistencies and version conflicts. VTEX needed a scalable, decoupled architecture that would allow global growth without the technical constraints of the old model.
The solution
Headless architecture and Design System
We implemented a new headless architecture: WordPress was used as the CMS (data and content management), fully decoupled from the visual layer (frontend).
Besides solving the plugin conflicts, this let the website render different interfaces for each country, with page structures and visual offers specific to each global market — all managed from the same dashboard.
We were also responsible for creating and fully componentizing VTEX's Design System, ensuring visual consistency across every interface element.
Highlights
- Headless WordPress as the CMS, decoupled from the frontend
- Global country-specific interfaces in a single dashboard
- DS Design System created and componentized
